2021 Buick Encore Configurations | Buick Encore Preferred
The 2021 Buick Encore is a compact SUV with a big personality. It offers exceptional performance, a smooth ride, and distinctive styling that sets it apart from the crowd. For this model year, Buick has simplified the Encore lineup to give you two stylish trim levels to choose from. But which configuration is for you?
Stand-Out Exterior Styling
Buick currently has two similarly named models in its lineup, the Encore and its slightly larger sibling, the Encore GX. Here, we’ll take a look at the original Encore.
For 2021, the Buick Encore trim levels are the base Encore and the Preferred trim. Each model sits on 18-inch aluminum wheels with Technical Gray pockets and offers the stylish Buick grille, accent-colored front and rear fascias, a sculpted profile, and the sporty rear-end design that will get you noticed wherever you go.
Standard exterior features include remote keyless entry, signature daytime running lights, chrome-accented body-color door handles, heated power mirrors, deep-tinted rear glass, roof-mounted side rails, and a center high-mounted brake light. A solar absorbing windshield helps to keep the cabin cool.
The Preferred trim offers options such as a power moonroof and five-split-spoke alloy wheels. The available roof cross rails, when combined with the side rails, enable you to secure cargo or a bike rack on top of your car.
Scintillating Performance and Smooth Ride
Both Encore trims are powered by a perky 1.4-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque. It’s mated to an electronically controlled slick-shifting six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Front-wheel drive is standard, but the Preferred trim offers the option of an intelligent all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. In the city, you’ll get up to 24 mpg, while highway driving will reward you with up to 32 mpg.
The Encore’s fuel-efficient powertrain is impressively responsive and delivers the sporty performance that makes it fun to drive. With its compact dimensions, short front and rear overhangs, and superb maneuverability, the Encore makes it easy to negotiate the city streets and to get into parking spots that other drivers have to pass by.
Out on the highway, the Encore provides a composed, quiet ride, while tackling the winding back roads is a thrilling driving experience, thanks to its curve-hugging handling characteristics. When equipped with AWD, the system monitors all of the wheels constantly and sends power to the wheels with the best grip for optimum traction.
To ensure a refined ride, the Encore features active noise cancellation and Buick QuietTuning technologies such as triple door seals and acoustic laminated glass in the windshield and front side windows. This helps to reduce, block, and absorb exterior noise, so you can enjoy conversation, music, or just a quiet, peaceful journey.
Modern and Sophisticated Interior
Inside, the Encore’s elegant, contemporary cabin surrounds you with high-quality materials and has stylish touches such as a satin silver and chrome shift knob and chrome door handles. The driver-focused cockpit features intuitively positioned switches for fingertip control that puts you at the center of the action.
The spacious interior offers ample room for five passengers, along with the capability to haul plenty of stuff. You have 18.8 cubic-feet of space for all your gear behind the 60/40 split-folding second row, while folding down the rear seats provides you with a generous 48.4-cubic-foot cargo area with additional underfloor storage.
The Preferred trim has a removable cargo cover to hide your gear from prying eyes. For additional cargo flexibility, the flick of a convenient lever folds the passenger seatback flat to facilitate longer items. Storage space under the passenger seat enables you to keep small and valuable items out of sight but close at hand.
For your comfort, both Encore models have front bucket seats, simulated leather-trimmed fabric upholstery, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a manually adjustable passenger seat. Standard interior features include push-button start, cruise control, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, a tilting and telescoping steering column, and air conditioning with an air particle filter.
With the Preferred trim, you can select options such as remote start, all-weather floor mats, a cargo area tray, a cargo net, and ambient lighting for the front footwell and cupholders.
The Latest Technology
A 4.2-inch color driver information display provides important vehicle information, such as fuel economy, average speed, vehicle range, oil life, and tire pressure. The Buick Infotainment System features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability, Bluetooth for audio streaming and hands-free calling, dual USB ports, and a six-speaker sound system with satellite radio. Control of the system is via the intuitive 7-inch touch screen and steering wheel-mounted controls.
With the LTE Wi-Fi hot spot, your passengers can connect up to seven devices for fast and reliable surfing and streaming. Depending on your plan, Buick Connected Services gives you access to remote vehicle functions such as starting and stopping the engine, locking and unlocking the doors, checking your tire pressure, and vehicle diagnostics. With the myBuick mobile app, you can perform these functions directly from your mobile device.
Safety is a priority in the Encore. For added confidence on wet, icy, or uneven roads, the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with traction control can sense a loss of grip and intervenes automatically to help keep you in control. Four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes ensure safe stopping.
The Encore’s safety features include a passenger sensing system, an oil life monitoring system, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a rear vision camera with selectable dynamic guidelines to help you maneuver safely in reverse. For the safe installation of child seats, you have two full LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) connectors for the rear outboard seats and a tether anchor for the center seat.
For the Preferred trim, the available Safety Package offers side blind-zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 120-volt power outlet. Adding the Safety Package II gives you lane departure warning, forward collision alert, front and rear parking assist, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
Whether you’re running around Youngstown or heading out on weekend adventures, the 2021 Buick Encore helps you do it in style.
